Day 1; Transfer and Cycle to Annah Rais Longhouse (L/D)
(34 km)

We watch orangutan emerge from the rain forest during their feeding time before getting on two wheels and cycle along the spectacular Penrissen Range dotted with local farms and villages. Explore a peaceful Bidayuh Longhouse and experience a freshly cooked authentic Bidayuh dinner in a lovely homestay.

We start off early with a transfer to visit Semenggoh Nature Reserve, a large enclosed area of rainforest which is home to endangered Orangutans rescued from captivity and kept for rehabilitation. During the scheduled feeding time, some orangutans may descend from the rainforest to the lower branches of trees near the feeding platform. Those who are in luck will be offered a wealth of facial expressions by mankind’s closest relative. After the feeding time, it’s time to start riding. Using winding rural back road, we pedal through a series of kampongs dotted with small scale pepper farms, rice fields and plantations. We arrive at a large and old Bidayuh Tribe’s longhouse that houses over 80 families and boasts a history of 500 years in existence. Join one of the host family in the longhouse to enjoy freshly cooked bamboo chicken and wild jungle vegetable on tanju (patio) of the longhouse. After lunch, explore this peaceful Bidayuh longhouse and learn about the culture of the Land Dayaks who were once headhunters. The remaining of the afternoon is free and easy, you can opt to swim in the mountain stream before enjoying another authentic longhouse meal at a very pleasant Bidayuh Homestay.

Day 2; Kayak (7 km) and Cycle to Siniawan (B/L/D)
( 37 km)

Kayak, Cave and Cycle, 3-in-1 Day! We start the day by floating down a stretch of untouched tributary of the Sarawak River in a kayak to discover hidden waterfall and explore unique limestone formations. After a quick transfer, it’s then back on the bike to cycle through some spectacular limestone karst landscape and visit bat caves before settling in the historical town of Siniawan.

A full day of 3-in-1 (3 adventure activities of Kayaking, Caving and Cycling, all in one day) awaits us. After a quick transfer to reach the start of your kayak adventure, we paddle through the rainforest on a meandering river shaded by overhanging canopies of trees with the sounds of rustling water and chirping of insects and birds. We hit the saddle again to cycle one of the most scenic stretch of riding on this trip to reach Bau, the oldest goldmine outpost in Sarawak. After lunch we head off-road to explore some hidden gold mines and experience the moderately challenging off-road up and down hill through some spectacular limestone karst landscape! Along the way,we enter two caves (both National Reserve Area), the Wind Cave filled with bats and the majestic Fairy Cave chamber. We then finish our ride for the day at the beautiful historical shophouse town of Siniawan for a merry evening of dining before an early rest at a simple but uniquely Asian shoplot guesthouse.

Day 3; Cycle to Matang Wildlife Center (B/L)
(55 km)

A lot of fun riding today as we cycle along the foothill of Matang mountain range. Experience sections of jungle off-road biking, river crossings and soak beneath cool waterfalls. We reach to Matang Wildlife Center for another chance to see the orangutans. The tour concludes by sending you back to your city hotel.

After an early morning traditional noodle breakfast at an old town coffee-shop (kopitiam), we get ready for a full day of fun riding including riding across a suspension bridge, taking a traditional boat ferry and pushing your bike across the jungle stream. We ride using shaded back roads under the mountain before stopping for a breather at a jungle waterfall for a cooling dip and lunch break. We reach Matang Wildlife Cementum in the early afternoon for another encounter with the orangutans as well as other endemic Borneo wildlife such as the Sun Bears, Sambar Deer and Hornbills. Our Pedal & Paddle Sarawak adventure ends and we transfer you back to your city hotel.
