Day 01: Arrival Kuching/ Citytour

Meet and assisted upon arrival at Kuching International Airport

Transfer-in to the hotel of your choice for check-in.

1400hrs. Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and proceed for a Kuching Sightseeing Tour, the tour includes the visit of the Tua Pek Kong temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Sarawak, built in 1876 and view the Fort Margarita from Kuching Waterfront.Proceed to the modern Civic Centre to enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Drive by St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the Syariah (Muslim) Court, traditional Malay houses built on stilts and the mosque built along the riverbank. Winding through the heart of the city, look out for the majestic Astana, the former palace of the White Rajahs, now the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Stop for few minutes in front of the old colonial Court House, complete with a Clock Tower and a granite obelisk built in memory of the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke. As a highlight of the tour you will cross the Sarawak River from the Waterfront of Kuching, using the traditional water taxi, the “Sampan” and walk for approximately 10 minutes to the iconic Fort Margherita, built in the year 1880. The Fort was built during the regency of the 2nd Whie Rajah, Charles Brooke, and is now offering a unique inside of the history of the White Rajahs with the Brooke Gallery. After your visit cross Sarawak River using a “Sampan” once more.

Day 02: Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre – Borneo Highlands Resort (B/L/D)

After breakfast depart from your hotel in the city to commence Semonggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre situated about ½ hour drive from Kuching. It provides a rare opportunity to be at close range with the “Wild Man of Borneo” and to observe their behaviors and activities in their natural habitat. Before arriving at the feeding platform, you will have a brief experience walking through the amazing untouched rainforest.

After this visit continue your program with an approximate 30 minutes drive to the foothill of the Borneo Highlands Resort where you will board the Resorts Shuttle which will bring you for another 20 minutes along a steep wrote uphill the Resorts building. The Sitting on the Penrissen Range, 1,000 metres above sea level, the Borneo Highlands Resort is surrounded by rich vegetation, flora and fauna and lush rainforest with a year round spring temperature of 18 - 28 degrees Celsius. It is an absolute botanical paradise where one can enjoy fresh air, cool mountain breeze and spectacular highland sceneries.

After checking in at your room, meet your guide and proceed for lunch at the resorts restaurant (strictly vegetarian).

After a short rest after lunch your guide will bring you for an approximate 1 hours trekking through this unique rainforest until you will reach the Kalimantan Viewpoint, an open area located directly at the border from where you will have a wonderful view to the Indonesian side of Borneo.

The rainforest at the Borneo Highlands Resort is well known for its many different species of birds, which makes it a paradise for bird watchers. The known 177 different species of birds consist of 4 species of Hornbills and endemic species such as Pygmy White Eye, Mountain Black Eye, Bornean Barbet, Chestnut Crested Yuhina etc.

Together with your guide you will try to find and identify some of the species that can be discovered at the open area of the Look out point.

Return to the Resort by 4-Wheel Drive for dinner

After dinner proceed for a night walk in search for nocturnal animals together with your guide

Overnight Borneo Highlands Resort.

Day 03: Borneo Highlands Resort – Permai Rainforest Resort/ Night Walk (B/L/D)

Early morning you will meet your guide and drive with the Resorts vehicle once more to the Kalimantan Look out point to discover the many birds that are easily to be seen in the early hours of the day.

Return to the Resort for breakfast and time free at leisure until lunch for you to discover the beauty of the Resorts nature on your own.

After lunch return with the Resorts shuttle to the foothill of the Borneo Highlands where you will meet your driver who will transfer you back to Kuching and onwards for approximately 45 minutes from Kuching to Permai Rainforest Resort for check in.

1930hrs. After dinner at the Resorts restaurant Follow your guide through the unique nature of the rainforest of the Resort and search with strong torchlights for wildlife such as different snake species, stick insects, different lizard species and sleeping birds. One of the highlights of this adventurous walk is the chance to observe flying lemurs that will get active during sunset. Don’t miss the chance to see this rare animal species gliding from one tree to the other.

Overnight at the Resort

Day 04: Marine Wildlife Cruise (B/L/D)

After breakfast board a speedboat at the beach of the Resort and proceed for an approximate 20 minutes boat ride to the river mouth and search together with your guide for the Irrawaddi (or Snubfin) Dolphins. This species has a large melon and a blunt, rounded head. Its beak is indistinct. The dorsal fin is short, blunt and triangular. It is located about two-thirds of the way along the back. The flippers are long and broad. It is lightly colored all over - slightly more whiter on the underside than the back. It appears whiter than it actually is when set against the background of a muddy river. Length is about 100cm at birth and 230cm at full maturity. Birth weight is about 10kg. Adult weight exceeds 130kg. Lifespan is about 30 years.

The Irrawaddy Dolphin is a slow swimmer. It surfaces in a rolling fashion and lifts its tail fluke clear of the water for a deep dive only. Irrawaddy Dolphins spit streams of water from their mouths whilst spy hopping. Observe the dolphins while they swimming around the boats of the local fishermen in search for food.

After observing the dolphins we will once more try to find wild Crocodiles along the Riverbanks of the Mangrove Forest. Afterwards we will proceed by boat for another 45 minutes to the Satang Islands located off the coast of Santubong. Together with the Talang-Talang Islands that are located off the coast of Sematan, these two locations are the only major marine turtle nesting sites in Sarawak. During the “turtle season” from May to September, Green Turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs and rest in the surrounding waters before and in between landings. Packed lunch is provided on the island. Enjoy the beautiful view from the island, relax at the beach or go for a swim or snorkel in the clear water.

On the return boat ride to Permai we will pass by “Bird’s Rock”. We will slowly pass by the rock for a better impression of this rocky islet which is an important rookery for Black-napped and Bridled terns (Nesting period May – September). After the tour return to Permai Rainforest Resort.

Dinner & Overnight at the Resort.

Day 05: Bako National Park (B/L/D)

After breakfast, a scenic drive this morning brings you to Bako Fishing village where an exciting boat ride takes you to marvel at the abundant natural beauty of Sarawak’s most popular National Park. Trek along the trails to spot wildlife in its natural surroundings including the proboscis monkeys, the monitor lizards, bearded pigs, silver leaf monkeys and more than one hundred species of birds. The stunning tropical rainforest ranges from the mangrove swamp forest to kerangas (Heath forest) to cliff and beach vegetations. Exotic plants found along the trails include the several species of pitcher plants and wild orchids. Lunch will be served in the Park’s Canteen. Return in the afternoon to Permai Rainforest Resort

Dinner & Overnight Permai Rainforest Resort.

Day 06: Day of Departure (B)

After breakfast Time free at leisure until check out & Transfer to Kuching International airport
